This blog post is the first one of the series Fulfilling Life. I’m so excited about this! It will be about 4 to 5 blog posts during a month to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. It will help you to design the life you want.
So today, I will give you some tips to uplevel your life right now if you’re unsatisfied with this. It’s just some little twist mindset tricks, and it will improve your life massively. It’s what I did a few months ago, and it really changed my mindset, and now, I enjoy my life so much more.
So let’s go.
Get out of your comfort zone (just a little bit)
Okay, guys, I know what you think. “I have always been asking to get out of my comfort zone, but I already do this in my job every day, and I don’t want to do it in my personal life too.” I get it, guys. I was in the same position. I’m an introvert, so it’s more challenging to get out of your comfort zone. It’s exhausting, and actually, we have always been asking to make an effort and not for the extroverts.
But just a little thing every day that is unusual or that is a little bit scary would really change your life.
I will give you some examples. In 2020, I decided to learn a new language, but I was afraid to go to classes and talk to a person one-on-one. But finally, I told myself that it was the only way to improve, and if I didn’t do it, I would be stuck with the same level.
Another example is about the phone. I hated to pick up the phone: my own phone, my phone at work… In the end, it’s difficult and not sustainable with my kind of job. So I began to answer, and I also started to be the one who phoned the first. And now I don’t have a lot of problems. It’s still scary for important calls, but it’s better than when I was sweating about calling someone.
Do something different every day
If you constantly complain that time runs so fast, try to break up your routine. This period ran so fast since the beginning of the pandemic. Because we do the same thing every single day. And I realized that when I do something different, time passes less fast.
For example, it’s been weeks and even months that I want to begin water painting. I don’t want to do it every day, but I just wanted to improve my creativity a little and just take some time for myself. And last week, I did it, I began to water paint. I just bought a small palette. I felt like time passed slowly and fast at the same time. And at the end of the day, I was so fulfilled.
It wasn’t a lot, but it helped me play with my creativity and be in a bubble for one or two hours. And just by painting for one hour last week, I felt so much better. I embrace the slow living lifestyle that I want to embrace since January.
It’s great to have routines to progress and have patterns to follow to be productive, but routines are made to break. You won’t do the same workout every day. You won’t eat the same thing every single day. Try to find something, even the smallest thing, to do differently every day: watching a video about something totally different from your usual videos and taking another street to go to work. There are tons of way to do it. Just be aware of this, and you will start to find solutions.
Find new hobbies
I don’t know about you, but I really don’t like to be bored. I want to sometimes just lay down on my couch and watch a tv show, but I like to have projects, to have things to do. I’m not a massive fan of the word “hobby,” but you know what I mean. What I want to say here is to start something new.
A few years ago, I wasn’t thinking about starting a Youtube Channel. But one year ago, some of my friends told me that it would be great to turn my blog into a Youtube Channel. So what do you want to start but you never “fully committed to it”? Do you want to create a side hustle? Do you want to start being interested in personal finance, to start investing? Do you want to learn an instrument?
Ask yourself the right questions
Okay, so without overwhelmed you, there are eight categories in your life: work life, love life, finance, relationships (with your family and friends), personal development, health and fitness, spirituality, and quality of life. If you’re not satisfied with your life, you need to identify which of these eight categories is not what you expected. Maybe it’s just one or two areas of your life that are not great, and you think that your whole life sucks.
For me, it was my job and my financial situation. Every other category was ok for me, but not these 2. So in which domain you need to work?
If it’s your job, like me two years ago, ask yourself where you want to be in 2 or 3 years from now? You don’t need to have a vision in 10 years, but if the answer is: I don’t want to be in the job, try to find what you could do instead of this job? Perhaps there are some parts of your current job that you like, and you want to go in-depth into these domains. Maybe it’s something totally different. Perhaps your future job wouldn’t be your dream job, but it could be a “chance” for something else. Currently, my job is not my dream job, but it gives me more time for myself. So try to think like that.
It could be another category like the relationship between you and your family or your friends. In that case, you can make decisions to not see somebody or engage in a conversation with someone you lost sight of?
